Escot Country Park -
1 mile from Pitt Farm Explore and enjoy the natural fantasy gardens which surround the ancestral home of the Kennaway family. Escot is a place for people who love Nature - here are paths, trails, vistas, places to picnic, things to enchant and delight, and everywhere beautiful flowers, shrubs and specimen trees. The original gardens were set out by Capability Brown and have been magically brought to life through the skill and imagination of Land artist and television gardener Ivan Hicks. |

miles from Pitt Farm Fine buildings, gentle walks, stunning views with so much to nurture, conservation is Sidmouths watchword. Its time warp ambience is the perfect prescription to relax and browse, be it a seafront deckchair for a quiet read or a bracing walk on Peak Hill to wonder at the magnificent panorama of sea and coast with Sidmouth spread below. Beer - 9 miles from Pitt FarmJust West of Lyme Regis lies the delightful "picture postcard" village of Beer. Beer is a popular spot for sightseers and has an interesting assortment of galleries, cafes, antique shops and so on to browse around. A stream runs along the main street and the sea views from the cliff tops is both picturesque and dramatic.Until the early twentieth century Beer offered just five forms of employment for its community - fishing, farming, quarrying and carving Beer stone and making lace. Times were hard and the temptation to become involved in less scrupulous activities was irresistible for many - Beer was home to some of the most accomplished smugglers in the region |

The South West Coastal Path passes along the seafront. Walkers can either head westwards to Beer, or eastwards through the unique 'Undercliff Nature Reserve' to Lyme Regis. In December 2001 the coastline was awarded World Heritage Site status. Further information on the Dorset and East Devon World Heritage Coastline visit www.jurassiccoast.com |
